I attended the Royal Rumble PPV and here are some notes:
First, I read Dave’s blog, and he was spot on!
The arena opened its doors about 20 minutes late, so we were freezing our rears off.
Throughout the show, there were loud Daniel Bryan and YES YES YES chants.
During the tag title match, it was apparent that the Outlaws were still over. Although I didn’t want them to win, the match was solid.
Bryan vs. Bray was the match of the night. They were definitely working their butts off. Bray will be a huge star, Bryan is too.
There was not a lot of huge excitement for Lesnar vs. Show, but I enjoyed seeing Brock just beat the living daylights out of Show.
Man, was the crowd rabid during the title match. There were many crazy chants, especially from the section I was in. I just can’t fathom how Vince and Creative are oblivious to all of it. If I was watching at home, I probably would have been rolling my eyes at some of the chants, but being in the live crowd, I laughed at some of them!
A bit surprised that they didn’t throw in a meaningless divas match.
Crowd was hot for the entire rumble! Big pops for Punk, Ziggler, Fandango, Sheamus, Langston, even Nash. Really. Big heat for Batista, Miz, and #30 being Mysterio. Major heat when Batista won.
As I was leaving, I overheard a lot of BS complaints about the booking, and I can’t argue with that.
Anyway, I had a really good time at the show.
