As previously reported, the day after WrestleMania XXX featured the news that the WWE Network has had 667,287 subscribers since it launched in February.
A week before that, the investment community revealed it would be satisfied with a million subscribers but were predicting more. Some felt that while a number less than 850,000 would not be a great sign, it would be “workable”. Investors are expecting more growth in the next several years with three or four times the original number. If the number was less than 650,000 it would have been bad, but even as is, WWE’s stock tanked following the subscriber number reveal.
While the current number isn’t a total failure, it’s still considered by both WWE and investors to be a “major disappointment.”
