UPDATE: Here is the latest on the main event for the WWE Payback pay-per-view. Vince McMahon still wants Daniel Bryan vs. Batista as the main event for the show, even though he took the loss in the six-man tag vs. The Shield. Batista is scheduled for tonight’s RAW in Albany, New York, but is then scheduled to take time off.
If McMahon cannot convince Batista to stay around for the Payback main event with Daniel Bryan, the plan is to move forward with Daniel Bryan vs. Kane in a Buried Alive match. This was the reason that the PPV went off the air with Kane sitting up after the loss and setting off his pyro.
ORIGINAL: As previously reported, it was expected within WWE that Batista would be done for the time being after this week’s TV tapings after he had turned down a storyline that would see him losing at Payback before he took time off to promote Guardians of the Galaxy. That may not be the case anymore.
According to sources, several people backstage at Extreme Rules say that Batista was suggesting that he will stay on with the company through Payback after all. Obviously, we’ll know more following Extreme Rules and RAW to see what direction they’re taking creatively.
