UPDATE x 2: As we previously reported, an agency sent out a casting call for an upcoming WWE-Sting project. One notice was looking for actors/musicians for an “orchestra” with Sting face paint. The other was for an actor who would be used as a Sting body double. The project isn’t being done by WWE directly, but an agency that works with WWE licenses.
The agency that released the notices didn’t realize they would get so much buzz from the news online. WWE, meanwhile, is said to be very upset with the news leaking since they don’t actually have Sting signed to a contract yet.
UPDATE: Here is the latest information regarding the casting call for a Sting related project that was reported on earlier today.
* As of right now, Sting has not signed with the WWE.
* This is not for RAW next week or any upcoming WWE programming.
* As of today, there are no plans for Sting appearing any time soon on RAW.
* This is not a WWE project, but is a project from another agency that works with WWE.
ORIGINAL: Casting agencies today have released requests for Sting lookalikes for a WWE production. WWE is looking for a Sting body double aged 38-50 who is “6’2, 250lb of pure muscle. Prefer a guy with wrestling experience, very fit. HEAVILY muscular. Slightly longer dark hair. Will have a full face of make up on. paying a higher rate as we need a GREAT double for this.”
They are also seeking “orchestra musicians with own instruments” aged 18 to 70 to play a playing orchestra that would wear Sting’s trademark facepaint.
The scenes rumored to be for a new WWE videogame which means that Sting will likely have a major role. This would be his debut in a WWE game. He would be used similar to how Ultimate Warrior, Mike Tyson and Brock Lesnar were used as the “unique” name that helped promote the game.
The footage will be shot on June 16, directed by Tom Haines and produced by Tom Martin for Street Gang Films.
