Backstage News – Why Ricardo Rodriguez Was Released

As we noted on the website on Wednesday, Ricardo Rodriguez has been released from World Wrestling Entertainment. The reason he was released is pretty simple, as the company simply felt like they didn’t have a role for him at this time.

Rodriguez had been doing some Spanish announcing, as well as some work as part of the El Locale act in NXT. The general feeling was they didn’t need him in the announcing role for Spanish broadcasts and that his size played against him when it came to possibly being used as a wrestler.
