The Pensacola News Journal is reporting that veteran Ken Lucas has passed away. Lucas died on Wednesday (August 6) in Pensacola, Florida at age 73.
Lucas wrestled against the legends such as Ric Flair, Jerry Lawler, Harley Race, and “Bullet Bob” Armstrong over the course of his career. He was known for using a sleeper hold as his finisher. Throughout his career, Lucas became Pensacola heavyweight champion, NWA Gulf Coast champion, NWA Mid American champion, and he held other various tag team titles.
Speaking on his late friend, Bob Armstrong stated, “That sleeper hold was like a vice. He bent me backwards and I made it to the ropes. That was my only salvation.” He added, “He was one of my favorite guys in the world. It broke my heart when I heard the news.”
