Paul Heyman appeared on Chael Sonnen’s podcast and discussed a number of topics, including the fact that he pitched the idea of CM Punk breaking Undertaker’s streak at WrestleMania 29. Heyman said that he knew Punk was close to leaving the company and that he thought Punk beating The Undertaker would be the only thing that could get him to stay. He added that if he had a say, Punk would have been the one to do it.
Heyman added he thought Punk getting the win might have meant he stayed longer to “capitalize” on the win, but that Punk left and the “stars were aligned for it” to be Brock Lesnar.
