TNA’s current booking situation with the world title and the World Title Series tournament has reportedly been planned since last July. The planned is said to have included EC3’s recent title loss and his eventual injunction, leading to the World Title Series.
The backstage segments for the angle were filmed as far back as July, along with the material of the wrestlers on the stage. That segment was shot in the iMPACT! Zone when there were no fans in the venue. So TNA’s current angle with the world title was the plan all along. However, it is not clear if the plan was always for Matt Hardy to get the belt before it was vacated.
