Rocky Romero will not be going to NXT for a training job after all. Pro Wrestling Sheets reports that Romero has signed a two-year contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling, and says that it was the rumors of WWE interest that helped him get the deal.
According to the site, Romero was working on a handshake deal with NJPW and when the company found out WWE was interested, they began pushing to lock him in with a two-year deal instead of their usual one-year contracts. Romero can still take bookings with ROH and indy promotions.
Romero was strongly considering the WWE job but decided that he wanted to do more in-ring work before he became a full-time trainer.
