UPDATE: According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, Alex Reyes believes that he, Rich Brennan and Kyle Edwards were released because of their being lifelong fans of the business. The site reports that according to sources close to Reyes, he thinks that the three were hired because of their passion for the business but that all of them found their roles reduced in 2016 and then were released.
According to the site, there’s no specific instances to suggest this is the case but that it is known the company tends to be down on hiring die-hard wrestling fans. Brennan and Edwards wer eboth released last month.
ORIGINAL: WWE has released announcer Alex Reyes (real name Alex Del Barrio). He was signed back in October of 2015, and worked for the NXT brand as a live events host and backstage announcer. He also worked with talents on promos in the Performance Center. Reyes was described as a life long fan, who had been trying to get into the company since 2004. Prior to getting signed by WWE, he did announcing for Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling promotion in Texas as well as The Harlem Globetrotters.
