WWE is planning to put a lot of focus on SmackDown after the Brand Split is established on July 19th. The current plan is to make SmackDown an equal brand with RAW, as USA wasn’t entirely happy with the show’s ratings on Thursday and wants it to have the same value as the Monday show. USA and WWE sat down to talk about the issue and came up with the live Tuesday airings idea, after which Vince McMahon decided on the brand split in order to help the show have its own identity so it could be equal to Raw.
Currently John Cena is penciled in for the Smackdown brand in order to help boost its profile.
