The original plan for SummerSlam was Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins for the new WWE Universal Championship. The plan was always to create a new world title but Reigns’ 30 day suspension for violating the Wellness Policy removed him from the match. Now Finn Balor will face Seth Rollins for the belt.
As previously reported, Vince McMahon was said to have been “irate” with Roman Reigns failing a WWE Wellness Policy test.
