In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Goldberg spoke about his upcoming match with Brock Lesnar and what might have caused him to trip when fighting Rusev on RAW.
He said that he had been training 2-3 times each day for his match with Lesnar and ate 8-10 meals daily. He said he’s been in the wrestling ring and did things that he hasn’t done “in a long period of time.” He said he didn’t know if he was doing enough or too much to prepare. He said he’s been “getting hurt along the way” and that over-training may be why he tripped during his altercation with Rusev.
He said: “I tripped in the ring in my second appearance back, and I don’t do that. I kinda attributed it to overtraining. Maybe something like that had to happen to tell me that I was overtraining. God has a very special way of letting us know what he wants. It was a sign for me, and I backed off a little bit.”
