As noted before, Dominik Mysterio is currently out of action for WWE and Lucha Libre AAA following Mysterio suffering an injury during his match against El Hijo del Vikingo for the AAA Mega Championship at this past Saturday’s AAA Rey de Reyes 2026 event in Puebla, Mexico.
The Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez reported that his sources stated that WWE officials original plans for Penta’s open challenge match for his WWE Intercontinental Championship at Monday’s WWE RAW show in Houston, Texas was for him to face off against Mysterio.
Alvarez reported that those plans were changed to Penta facing off against Dragon Lee instead due to Mysterio’s injury situation.
Alvarez also reported that those spoken to stated that Mysterio is currently believed to have been placed in WWE’s concussion protocol due to him potentially having suffered a concussion injury.
