Kurt Angle was interviewed by TMZ Sports and had a few interesting things to say.
WWE had Kurt Angle pull out of a scheduled event as a commentator for “5 Star Wrestling” in Scotland this Saturday (night before the Royal Rumble), leading many people to speculate that it could mean that WWE wants him in Texas this weekend for the Royal Rumble. However, Kurt Angle denied the rumors and once again said that WWE has not spoken to him about returning to the ring yet. Here’s what he had to say:
Angle: The Royal Rumble is not gonna happen. A lot of people are assuming it. A lot of writers are writing about it. I haven’t talked to WWE about anything after the WWE Hall of Fame. I’m sure they’re gonna want to do something eventually. I don’t know if it’s wrestling-related or not, but I would imagine that I would be attached to WWE most likely for the rest of my life, but there aren’t any clues or anything that has lead me to that. I just believe that this is the start of our new relationship, and I’ll be focusing on the Hall of Fame.
Interviewer: So you’re saying down the road there might be possibilities of working together and possibly getting back in the ring?
Angle: Possibly. You know, we didn’t really talk about it so I can’t tell you at this moment but I can say that anything is possible in that company, so hearing rumors about Shawn Michaels coming back, seeing Undertaker come back again, it’s not out of the question, but right now they have not said anything.
On whether Hulk Hogan will get “another chance” in WWE:
Angle: I believe Hulk Hogan will get another chance. I just think that it’s a matter of time. You have to remember what he gave to sports entertainment. He is the absolute biggest name in wrestling. Him and Stone Cold Steve Austin. I put The Rock up there too. And John Cena, especially the last 13 years what he’s done. But Hulk Hogan is the anchor to professional wrestling. He’s the one that made it mainstream. So will he be back in WWE? I don’t know. But does he deserve another shot? Yes. Hulk Hogan is a great guy. I have never heard him say one negative thing about anybody. He’s a pretty cool person and he has relationships with people of all colors, of all races. It’s never been an issue for him. So whether he was in a bad place when he said those things, I don’t know, but I can tell you that Hulk Hogan will be a staple in professional wrestling forever.
