As previously reported, WWE has eliminated or at least severely cut down on pyro recently as a cost-cutting measure since pyro is very expensive and WWE felt that it wasn’t really needed.
Head SmackDown booker the Road Dogg responded on Twitter to a fan who was upset about the removal of pyro:

I agree. In 3 months it'll be the norm and no one will care, that's our current society. Pyro in a Wrestling show isn't a priority in life.
