The finish of the John Cena vs. Shinsuke Nakamura match on SmackDown was apparently changed, according to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
After the show, WWE.com temporarily mistakenly posted in their SmackDown recap that Baron Corbin did a run-in during the match and attempted to attack Nakamura, but ended up taking out John Cena instead, causing him to lose. Nakamura actually won clean and the Baron Corbin run-in was done after the match (and after the show went off the air), likely setting up a Cena vs. Corbin feud and possible match at SummerSlam.
It seems like it was either a case of John Cena wanting to put Nakamura over and lobbying to do so, or Vince McMahon just changing his mind. Meltzer says he isn’t sure which one it was.
