Alberto El Patron remains suspended by GFW and there has been some speculation that he could be done with the company, since he was not at any of their recent TV tapings, which taped shows all the way until November. Jim Cornette also appeared to bury Alberto in his promo when he returned to GFW.
However, Dave Meltzer is reporting in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that as of now, Alberto is expected to be back for GFW’s next set of TV tapings in November. That could obviously change, but that’s the plan right now. The original idea was that Alberto would return as a heel and they would turn the suspension into an angle, with him being mad at the company about the suspension and being stripped of the title.
In related news, current GFW Global Champion Eli Drake was part of a GFW media call yesterday and was asked if he thought Alberto El Patron should be brought back. Here’s what he said (h/t Wrestling Inc.):
“I don’t know whether we should have him back or not. Now, am I gonna dig too deep into that? Probably not. Everybody knows all the stuff that’s gone down, all the controversy, all that stuff.
Personally, I think for now we can do without it. But aside from that, who knows what the future holds?”
