There were rumors yesterday that legendary WWE entrance music composer Jim Johnston had been released by WWE recently after his contract expired. The Mirror posted an article about the release. However, there has not been any official confirmation from WWE or any news from the usual “legit” wrestling sources until today, when Dave Meltzer said that “those close to the situation” have confirmed to him that Johnston has actually been released.
Johnston has been with WWE since 1985 and has created an incredible number of classic themes, including Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, DX, The Undertaker, Ted DiBiase, The Ultimate Warrior, Shawn Michaels, Mr. Perfect and countless others.
His production has dropped recently though and WWE’s themes have mostly been created by CFO$ since they came in in 2012. CFO$ have created themes for Bobby Roode, Shinsuke Nakamura, AJ Styles and lots of others.
Some of Johnston’s recent themes include Baron Corbin’s new theme, Jinder Mahal and The New Day.
