More Details and Rumors Regarding WWE’s Upcoming Women’s Rumble

As previously reported, the end of this week’s episode of RAW featured Stephanie McMahon making the historic announcement of a first ever women’s Royal Rumble match occuring at next month’s Royal Rumble event.

In an update to this situation, both WWE and the Wrestling Observer revealed a few new details and rumors regarding the match. WWE confirmed that the winner of the Rumble will get a title shot at Wrestlemania 34 and it will feature competitors from both RAW and Smackdown. In regards to possible surprise entrants, Trish Stratus recently tweeted her hopes of being involved and WWE very likely will be using NXT to help fill up the spots needed for this match.

In regards to non-WWE wrestlers, the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported WWE is currently rumored to be looking into including Ronda Rousey in the match as a surprise entrant. While Rousey is currently busy with the filming of Mile 22, it is likely she could be given the time off in order to compete in the Rumble, though movie studios are usually very cautious about possible injuries.

Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon made the massive announcement on the Dec. 18 edition of Raw, declaring that female WWE Superstars will compete for a championship opportunity at WrestleMania 34.
