Impact: Austin Aries Update, James Ellsworth, Plans for Joey Janela, Sami Callihan Re-Signs, Willie Mack

Austin Aries Update

As mentioned, Austin Aries is apparently done with Impact for now, having wrestled his last contracted match at Bound for Glory. Aries stormed off after losing the World Championship to Johnny Impact and flipped off people in Impact’s management as he left.

There were segments already written for Austin Aries at the Impact TV tapings this week, but the segments had to be scrapped and rewritten, according to PWInsider, so Impact had planned on him still being with the company before he stormed out.

Aries was not at the tapings and returned home to Las Vegas on Monday.

James Ellsworth

James Ellsworth debuted for Impact at Bound for Glory, answering Eli Drake’s open challenge and quickly losing. As of now, there are no plans for Ellsworth to return, PWInsider says. Too bad. :-( Hopefully that changes.

Joey Janela

Impact’s original plan for Eli Drake’s mystery opponent was “Bad Boy” Joey Janela.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t do the show after he suffered a horrible knee injury last month that will keep him out of action for at least a year.

Impact planned on bringing Janela in as a regular.

Ellsworth was brought in as a backup plan.

Sami Callihan Re-Signs

Sami Callihan has signed a new deal with Impact, PWInsider says. No word on any specifics.

Callihan debuted at last year’s Bound for Glory PPV on November 5, 2017.

Willie Mack

Willie Mack, who made his impressive debut for Impact at Bound for Glory, will be a regular going forward.

Melrose Ballroom

Impact reportedly loved the atmosphere of the Melrose Ballroom in Queens, NY, and is open to returning there in the future.
