In-Ring: Paige, Shane McMahon, Daniel Bryan, The Miz
WWE SmackDown Live kicks off with SmackDown general manager Paige. She introduces the “best in the world”, Shane McMahon. Clips of WWE Crown Jewel airs. Paige asks Shane to pose for a picture with the trophy he won in Saudi Arabia. A loud “CM Punk” chant from the crowd followed by some jeers from the crowd. Shane says “What’s up Manchester” as they reply with a loud “boo”. Shane says to set the record straight, with all the amazing talent in the WWE, he does not think he is the best in the world. That trophy doesn’t belong to him but it does belong to everyone on SmackDown Live.
Shane says when The Miz got hurt, his instinct kicked in and he couldn’t fathom that SmackDown wouldn’t be the superior brand. And talking about brand supremacy, there’s Survivor Series. Paige and Shane go through the Survivor Series card. Authors of Pain against The Bar is also announced. Shane introduces the person who will lead the men’s Survivor Series team, the captain Daniel Bryan.
Out comes Daniel Bryan as he thanks Shane McMahon for humbling acknowledging that he is not the best in the world. And secondly, he says it is an honor that they have chosen him as team captain for SmackDown Live. The Miz’s music hits and he comes out limping.
The Miz says “Really Shane?” towards making Daniel Bryan captain. The Miz says he believes Shane is the best in the world. The Miz says technically, two thirds of that trophy is his as the crowd starts a “Yes” chant. He says together, they are the best in the world. Co-besties. He asks Shane if the trophy stays at his house for 20 days of the month or if Shane comes over to his house. Shane says he’s glad he won or else The Miz would have been fired. The Miz says he never forfeited. He says if anyone deserves to be team captain of SmackDown, it’s him. Loud “yes” chants from the crowd. Shane says based on his performance during the WWE World Cup, he is the captain.
Shane says he and Paige agree that both Daniel and Miz will be co-captains for the Survivor Series match.
Backstage: The Miz, Daniel Bryan, Shane McMahon
Backstage, The Miz and Daniel Bryan are arguing. In comes Shane who tells them he needs a team to bring it home. He wants people to feel uncomfortable and they do that. But they also bring the best out of each other and that’s what he is counting on. The Miz says he can count on him. Shane says by the end of tonight, they have to pick three other members. The Miz says he has a pick right now and that pick is Shane McMahon. Shane tells him not to try and suck up to him but no. Daniel says he can’t believe he is saying it but he agrees with Shane. Daniel says Shane showed at the World Cup tournament how much he cares for SmackDown Live and it makes sense. Shane says he accepts. The Miz says as a team player, he is letting Bryan have the next pick.
The New Day vs. The Usos
The bell rings and we are under way. Kofi starts it off with Jay. A drop kick by Kofi takes Jay to the outside. In comes Jimmy and Kofi sends him to the outside. Kofi tags Big E. Kofi distracts Jimmy and Big E attacks him on the outside. Back from commercial, Jay is in the ring with Kofi and both men are down. Big E and Jimmy are tagged in. Big E throws Jimmy around the ring with a belly to belly. He goes for a big splash but a hit to the face by Jimmy. He runs towards Big E but Big E takes him down with a slam. He goes for the cover but Jimmy kicks out.
Big E goes for the big ending but Jimmy makes a tag to Jay. A double kick to the face. Jay goes for a splash but Big E gets his knees up. He lands the big ending and goes for the cover but Jimmy breaks it up. Big E runs to the ropes and Kofi tags himself in. Big E goes to spear Jimmy but he moves out of the way and lands on the outside. Big E gets right back up and goes after Jimmy but Jimmy pushes him into the time keeper area.
Kofi gets on the top rope and flies onto the outside landing on The Usos. Kofi sends Jay back in the ring. He goes for the cover but Jay kicks out. Kofi lands the SOS and goes for the cover but Jay kicks out again. Both men get back up and Kofi with a cross body off the top rope but again Jay kicks out.
Back from commercial, The Usos on the ring apron lift Kofi up but Kofi fights out and in come Big E who spears Jay to the outside. Kofi with a right hand as he lifts Jimmy up onto the turnbuckle. Kofi climbs the top and goes for a suplex but Jimmy fights back as Kofi goes down. Kofi runs back up and goes for the hurricanrana but Jimmy overpowers Kofi and power bombs him off the turnbuckle. Jimmy climbs the turnbuckle and lands a big splash. He goes for the cover and gets the win.
Winners: The Usos
After the match, The Usos get on the microphone and say there is no SmackDown Live tag team division without The Usos and The New Day. And as captains of the SmackDown Tag Team for Survivor Series, they want The New Day in their team. All five men hug each other.
Backstage: The Miz, Daniel Bryan
Backstage, The Miz is on the phone talking about potential deals. In comes Daniel Bryan who says his pick for his Survivor Series team is Rey Mysterio. The Miz says Mysterio has done nothing since coming back to WWE. Daniel says he has beaten Nakamura, Randy Orton and The Miz since coming back. The Miz says it was a fluke. The Miz says if Rey impresses him during his match against Andrade “Cien” Almas, he will be on the team. Daniel agrees. Daniel says for the last pick, they both pick someone and those two will fight it out and the winner will be on the team. The Miz agrees as they both look at each other. The Miz says them agreeing is weird as he walks away.
In-Ring: Becky Lynch
WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch comes out to the ring. A loud “Becky” chant from the crowd. Becky tells Ronda who is she to tell her anything? It is true that Ronda holds a championship but she is not a champion. She says Ronda has never been tested yet. Becky tells Ronda she is the man and that is why she is a champion. She said when she meets her at Survivor Series, her titanium body will be defeated by her weak mind. Becky says she has been tested daily, weekly and monthly.
Becky says she was not hand picked like her but here she is. She wasn’t meant to main event but here she is. She wasn’t meant to be the talk of the entire industry but here she is. Becky says at Survivor Series, Ronda will know that it’s not her respect she is going after but it’s her arm. She doesn’t care if Ronda is the baddest bitch on the planet because she will make Ronda her bitch. Becky says she is so fired up, she wants to fight right now. She calls anyone out.
Out comes NXT star Nikki Cross with SAnitY. Nikki gets on the microphone and tells Becky she will play with her. Becky says the champion doesn’t play, the champion fights.
Becky Lynch vs. Nikki Cross
The bell rings. Becky throws Nikki to the outside of the ring. Becky gets on the ring apron and Nikki trips her up and gets beats on Becky. She throws Becky back in the ring but Becky slides back out. Nikki on the ring apron and Becky trips her up.
Becky throws Nikki back in the ring and goes for the cover but Nikki kicks out. Becky gets Nikki in a head lock. Nikki fights out of it and goes for a roll up but Becky kicks out. A single leg drop kick by Becky as she goes for the cover but once more Nikki kicks out. Becky with the Becksploder. She goes for the cover but a kick out.
Nikki with a clothesline takes Becky down. Cross lands a bulldog on Becky. Nikki climbs the top rope and a cross body onto Becky but Becky kicks out. Nikki stomps on Becky in the corner but Becky throws Nikki onto the bottom rope as she grabs Nikki’s arm and locks in the dis-arm-her. Nikki taps out.
Winner: Becky Lynch
Backstage: The Miz, Daniel Bryan, Samoa Joe
The Miz is backstage taking selfies and in comes Daniel Bryan who tells him his pick for the final Survivor Series spot is Jeff Hardy. The Miz says Jeff would be a great asset to their team but the question is if Jeff is as good as his choice. In comes Samoa Joe who tells Daniel Bryan may the best man win.
Backstage: Shinsuke Nakamura
Backstage, Shinsuke Nakamura promised to defeat Seth Rollins at Survivor Series.
Rey Mysterio vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas
The winner will be on Team SmackDown Live at Survivor Series. The bell rings and we are under way. Acrobatic reversals by both men to start the match. A hurricanrana by Rey Mysterio. Rey runs to the ropes but a back elbow by Almas takes Mysterio down. A flying knee to the jaw by Almas. he goes for the cover but Rey kicks out.
Almas runs towards Rey who is in the corner but Rey moves out of the way as Almas lands on the outside. Rey jumps off the ring apron but Almas catches him and throws him into the barricade. Back from commercial, a kick to the face by Mysterio. He goes for the cover but Almas kicks out. Rey Mysterio climbs the top rope but Almas trips him up. Almas with the double knees on Mysterio. He goes for the cover but Mysterio kicks out. A back breaker by Almas. He climbs the top rope and goes for the moonsault but Mysterio moves out of the way. Almas lands on his feet and goes for another moonsault but Mysterio gets the knees up. Rey sets up for the 619 but an elbow by Andrade who picks Rey up on his shoulders. Rey sends Almas to the outside but Rey remains on his shoulders. Rey sends Almas into the ring apron taking him down.
Rey sends Almas back in the ring. He jumps off the top rope and a hurricanrana sends Almas into the ropes. Rey lands the 619 and delivers a splash off the top rope. He goes for the cover and gets the win.
Winner: Rey Mysterio
After the match, Randy Orton comes in and hits Rey Mysterio with an RKO.
Backstage: The Miz, Daniel Bryan
The Miz and Daniel Bryan are backstage. Daniel asks The Miz if he sent Randy out there to attack Rey. The Miz says he doesn’t talk to Orton and Orton hit him with the RKO last week. And that Rey impressed him, which means Rey Mysterio will be on the SmackDown Live team at the Survivor Series.
Backstage: AJ Styles
Backstage, WWE champion AJ Styles says life as a WWE superstar is unpredictable. He said in the past week, he has defended his title in multiple continents against multiple opponents. And that reign started right here in Manchester, England. And his reward is to go up against Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series for the second year in a row. A man who is more like a beast, a destroyer. And last year, he gave Brock everything he had and it wasn’t enough. He says at Survivor SDeries, he will beat Brock Lesnar. That’s not a prediction, that’s a spoiler.
In-Ring: Paige, Mandy Rose, More
Page is in the ring and announces that Charlotte Flair, Carmella, Naomi, Sonya Deville and Asuka will be on the women’s SmackDown Live team at Survivor Series. However, when she introduces Charlotte Flair, her music plays but Charlotte doesn’t come out.
Her music cuts and Mandy Rose comes out. Mandy says she knows she’s not the blonde she ordered but surprise. Obviously an upgrade over Charlotte. Paige says no, she will not be taking Charlotte’s spot on the team. Mandy asks why she chose Sonya over her but not to get her wrong because she is really happy for Sonya. But she was the one that eliminated Sonya in the battle royal at Evolution. She’s a little concerned about her choices. Asuka? Yesterday’s news. Miss Money? Her dance breaks are like her title reigns, short and meaningless. Naomi? She didn’t forget about her, is anyone still feeling the glow? Like her husband Jimmy? Naomi attacks Mandy Rose and the remaining women separate them.
Sonya pulls Mandy back and the two look to be in disagreement as Mandy walks away.
Samoa Joe vs. Jeff Hardy
The winner will be on Team SmackDown Live at Survivor Series. Daniel Bryan and The Miz are doing commentary at ring side.
Daniel Bryan and The Miz are doing commentary at ring side. The bell rings and Joe goes after Hardy right away. Joe sends Hardy to the corner but Hardy pushes him off. Jeff climbs the top rope and jumps on Joe. Samoa Joe rolls to the outside of the ring. Jeff beats on Joe on the outside and sends him back in the ring. A running shoulder block by Samoa Joe takes Jeff Hardy down.
Back from commercial, Joe with right hands on Jeff Hardy but Jeff starts fighting back. Joe sends Jeff to the corner and hits him with a kick to the face. He goes for the cover but Jeff kicks out. Joe throws Jeff to the outside of the ring. He sends Jeff into the barricade. He goes to send Jeff to the barricade again but Jeff leaps to the top and jumps off the barricade taking Joe down.
Joe gets in the ring but Jeff takes him down and an atomic drop by Hardy. He goes for the cover but Joe kicks out. Jeff goes for the Twist of Fate but Joe pushes him to the ropes. Joe gets Jeff in a sleeper but a jaw breaker by Jeff who lands the Twist of Fate. Jeff Hardy climbs the top rope, he goes for the Swanton Bomb but Joe gets his knees up. Samoa Joe locks in the Coquina Clutch as Jeff Hardy taps out.
Winner: Samoa Joe
After the match, Samoa Joe gets in the face of Daniel Bryan but Daniel hits him. The two fight to the ring. Daniel gets Joe in the Yes Lock but in comes The Miz who breaks it up. The Miz is talking to Daniel Bryan but Bryan hits him taking him down. In comes Shane McMahon but Bryan takes him down and leaves the ring.
