Dean Malenko has recently left his role as a backstage agent for WWE, where he helped book and plan out matches, according to Sports Illustrated.
Sports Illustrated reported that he quit, but PWInsider says that their sources cautioned that he may not have necessarily quit, but he is in fact gone. There’s no word yet on why.
He had been with WWE since signing with them in 2000.
WWE has hired several new backstage agents in the past six months and has been cycling older agents on and off, which has led to a feeling and fear that a lot of the “old guard” is being replaced, PWInsider says.
Another well known backstage agent, Arn Anderson also left the company in February, though he was reportedly fired.
