Another Update on the Status of This Year’s WWE Backlash Event

As noted before, WWE reportedly cancelled plans to hold this year’s Backlash event due to recent changes made to their events schedule. The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported that there were recent talks within the company of potentially holding Backlash at a later date instead of canceling it for the year.

In an update to WWE Backlash’s status, Meltzer reported that the current plans within WWE are for Backlash to now be held on June 23rd and in Tacoma, Washington.

Braun Strowman Comments on the Inspiration for His Ring Name in WWE

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel held a recent interview with Braun Strowman and one of the topics discussed included the inspiration for his ring name in WWE.

“We were coming down to a time crunch with my new character name, and everything that I had submitted either had legal issues or they didn’t like.

Randomly, SportsCenter was on at the WWE Performance Center, and they were talking about Ryan Braun and I was like, ‘Braun…brawn. That’s got a pretty good ring to it, and it fits me my build and everything.

So, I pitched Braun. Originally it was Stoman and then we changed it to Strowman, and here we are. The rest is history. Ryan Braun is a big contributing factor to The Monster Among Men becoming a real-life character.”
