Dean Ambrose, who re-introduced his Jon Moxley gimmick in a video yesterday, may begin working for several indie promotions soon, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
The Observer says that the word going around is that Ambrose will be booked for several promotions starting in June, if not earlier, and lots of shows will be announced soon. Ambrose would likely be able to get several thousands of dollars per match and would be able to work his own schedule on his own terms.
There’s been a lot of speculation that Ambrose could be headed to AEW since the Moxley video had high production values and seemed like it was funded by a larger company. But Dave Meltzer speculated that it would be strange for WWE to give him such a strong send off if they felt that he was going to AEW or NJPW, and maybe WWE did that because they felt that he would eventually return. But Ambrose’s WWE contract is up and he is free to go anywhere he wants.
Ambrose was apparently adamant about leaving WWE, since they kept coming back to him with larger money offers and he kept turning them down, so it became clear to WWE that he was determined to leave.
