WWE Raw’s lead writer, Ryan Callahan, has been fired, according to Fightful.
But it reportedly had nothing to do with ratings or storyline quality. Fightful says that Callahan regularly butted heads with another writer, Senior VP of Creative David Kapoor and in the end, Callahan was fired for it. Kapoor reportedly felt that Callahan “took creative changes a little too personally, and was difficult to work with, not setting a good example for the rest of the writing team,” Fightful says.
He was fired on Thursday night, May 2.
Callahan was the lead writer for Raw’s “home” writing team, which writes from WWE’s headquarters. WWE also has a road writing team, which travels to each show.
Callahan had been with WWE for several years and was the lead Raw writer since December 2016.
The SmackDown head writer, “Road Dogg” Brian James also stepped down last month.
