Rumor: Los Angeles to be Official Host of WrestleMania 2021

The city of Los Angeles is currently rumored to be the frontrunner for the host of WrestleMnaia 2021, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s issue that the city recently put in a bid to host the event in 2021 at the new Los Angeles Stadium at Hollywood Park in Inglewood, California. It was reported that once this new stadium opens, it will have a capacity of 80,240 for football games but can be expanded up to 100,000 for the 2022 NFL Super Bowl and other major sporting events.

Meltzer also reported that the official reason why city officials chose 2021 for their bid was due to them wanting to iron out any potential issues with the new stadium before they host the Super Bowl in 2022. WWE reportedly is interested in hosting a WrestleMania in the city but had hoped for a 2022 bid instead so they would know beforehand of the new stadium’s attendance record, which likely will be set by the 2022 Super Bowl.

Sinclair Broadcasting Reportedly Purchases Fox Sports Net; Opens Door for ROH’s TV Expansion

Sinclair Broadcasting reportedly has reached a preliminary deal with Disney to purchase Fox Sports Net television stations for around $10 billion, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Dave Meltzer reported that this deal has yet to be made official due to FOX is still looking for other potential buyers for their former sports stations.

In regards to Ring of Honor, Meltzer reported that this will potentially open the door for ROH to air on more regional sports networks and expand their national television presence once the deal is officially completed.


Misc. Wrestling News & Notes

All Elite Wrestling reportedly will be making an official announcement regarding the broadcasting of their upcoming Double or Nothing event within the next week or two, according to the Wrestling Observer. Dave Meltzer also reported that AEW officials are once again considering plans for their potential weekly television series to air on Tuesdays.
