As noted before, Irish indie wrestler Session Moth Martina was among the attendees at last week’s tryouts held by WWE at their Performance Center for the NXT UK brand.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the current feeling within the United Kingdom indies scene is that Martina has likely signed or is very close to signing a contract with WWE following her tryouts. It was also reported that Martina and several others have recently received backlash within the U.K. indies scene for publicly promoting themselves as being pro-indies while negotiating deals with WWE in private. The backlash reportedly revolves around wrestlers wearing and promoting merchandise of anti-WWE pro-indies shirts.
Martina recently commented on Twitter that the allegations of her having any heat within the U.K. indies scene are false.
Completely untrue. @TheProductDS has been insanely proud and supportive of my CHOICE to see what options are out there for me, isn't that what true Independence is all about?! https://t.co/BG0X4q8pVd
