In-Ring: Charlotte Flair, Trish Stratus

WWE Smackdown Live kicks off Charlotte Flair making her way down to the ring. Flair gets in the ring and grabs a microphone. She says that every time the queen steps foot in the ring, the fans are all witnessing greatness. Most of us dream of greatness but sadly we don’t have the genetics, talent or discipline to achieve it. You either quit, lie to yourself or do something else just like her opponent at SummerSlam, Trish Stratus.

Charlotte calls Trish a Hall of Famer, 7 time champion, who when the business started to change, she opted to go for a family and a mini van. At the height of the women’s evolution, Trish wanted to come back for one last match? That’s not it. She saw Charlotte’s greatness and it was eating her alive and she was never as good as her. The athlete of today is far more superior than the athlete of yesterday.

Flair says Trish’s dream of beating her will not come true and she will shatter them. Charlotte points at the large screen as they show clips of Charlotte Flair’s career. But at the start of the video, it cuts to a highlight package of Trish Stratus and Charlotte is in the ring and not happy about it.

Trish’s music hits and out comes the Hall of Famer. Trish walks and tells Charlotte that’s not what she was expecting. She gets in the ring and says the reason she played the video is to remind Charlotte why she is here and why she is getting these opportunities. Trish says Flair is right, she has been dreaming of one more match. Trish says Flair is the embodiment of everything she fought for. And yes, she wants one more match and maybe it’s to prove it to her kids or to the fans but also to prove it to herself. To quote the great Harley Race, there is no greater feeling in the world than to be under these bright lights and she wants that. She needs that. She says Charlotte may be the queen but she’s not Trish.

Flair gets on the mic and welcomes her to her nightmare because on Sunday she will make her bow down to the queen. Flair woo’s as Trish slaps her in the face. The two go face to face as Flair laughs and leaves the ring.

She asks him who he thinks is responsible. Roman says he knows who it’s not, it’s not Samoa Joe. He should publicly apologize to him and he does. He does the usual, best in the world speech but Kevin Owens interrupts him. Owens says they’ve heard it enough times. It’s time to talk. Owens says why isn’t Shane’s career on the line. He’s a McMahon, he can say whatever he wants and do whatever he wants. But ever since Owens put his career on the line, people have asked him about Shane.

Owens says since the McMahon family always do what is best for business, they give the people what they want, he is asking Shane to put his career on the line as well. To be the man he says he is. If he beats Owens, he is gone. But if he beats Shane, Shane is done.

McMahon says he wants to ponder that for a second… That would be a no. talking about his ego being out of control? It’s Kevin’s ego that got him in this situation. If he loses, he will quit and he is gone. There’s no shame in losing to the best in the world. But when he does, Shane can pin Owens. Shane can slap on a submission and Kevin Owens can tap out. Owens can be outside the ring, slip and fall and not make it in the ring before the count of 10 and lose. Or he can push Kevin’s buttons and Owens can hit him with something and he gets disqualified. But the end result of them all is that Kevin is gone. His career will be over and finally he will be rid of him.

Owens says the point of this all is that he won’t do it? Shane says no. Owens says that’s surprising. After all these years watching him and doing crazy acts, he just exposed to everyone that he doesn’t have any balls. Owens throws his microphone and pushes his chair. Shane says he has those and brains. But he can see the hostility and let’s get a prelude to what will happen on Sunday. They clear the chairs and signs. In comes Elias and it’s two against one.

Instead of responding like a man, he locks himself in a dark room because he is safe there. That way people can keep talking about how cool he is. But the truth is that Black doesn’t want a fight with Zayn at SummerSlam. Because he knows when he’ll beat him and rids him of the hype, it will all be gone and that terrifies him.
