A photo review of Kingston-Orton from “Clash of Champions” reminds us of the victorious outcome by Kofi retaining the WWE Title.

Back from break and The Revival has found a way to control the match, wearing down Xavier Woods’ injured knee. Tags between Dawson and Wilder keep Woods away from his teams’ corner, then Orton decides to join the fray by stomping down on the knee. Woods chops violently at Orton’s chest, trying to get to his corner, but a thumb to the eye sends him reeling to the empty corner.

Chops to Woods brings him down and Orton continues to rain the stomps onto the knee. Dawson tagged in now for more wear and tear on the knee. A rope break gets Dawson off, Woods kicks him away and scrambles for a tag. Wilder tagged in, cuts Woods off. An Argentine Kneebreaker is countered with a roll-up pin by Woods, kickout at 2! Suddenly… Brock Lesnar’s music hits! Lesnar and his advocate, Paul Heyman with microphone in hand, are at the ramp! They slowly make their way down the ramp, while Kofi tells Big E and Woods to exit the ring, as if he knows what all of this is about showing that he is willing to stand alone to Lesnar. Lesnar and Heyman make their way to the corner apron.

“Mr. Kingston, my name is Paul Heyman, and I am the advocate for the Beast who not only stands in front of you tonight but stands in the way of the longevity of your title reign, BROCK LESNAR! MY client has authorized me to inform you, face to face, man to man, it’s a bad day for The New Day, yes it is! In Heyman’s term, what that means is the following: Kofi, my client, Brock Lesnar, hereby challenges you to a match for the WWE Heavyweight Championship of the world on Friday night, October 4th, at the Friday Night Smackdown premiere on Fox!”

Heyman exits the ring, Kofi has a mic now. “When I won this WWE Title at WrestleMania, I made a promise to the entire WWE Universe that I would be a fighting champion. So as far as your challenge is concerned, I accept!”

Lesnar rushes into Kofi… F5! Lesnar picks up the WWE Title and lays it down next to a laid out WWE Champion, Kofi Kingston.

Backstage: Sasha Banks, Bayley

Kayla is interviewing Sasha Banks and Smackdown Women’s Champion, Bayley. Sasha is responding to Becky Lynch’s challenge of meeting inside Hell in a Cell for the Raw Women’s Title, welcoming it. As far as her match with Charlotte Flair, Bayley says that Sasha is not answering any questions regarding that.

Interview: Erick Rowan

Michael Cole is sitting down to interview Erick Rowan, but before we get that we are reminded of Rowan’s assaults on Roman Reigns and the return of Luke Harper at last Sunday’s “Clash of Champions” event.

Cole asks Rowan about Luke Harper’s return and why he chose that time to do so. Rowan tells Cole that’s a question that should be asked to Harper and asks if he has a question for him.

Cole asks Rowan about his attacks for the past month on Roman Reigns, which were tantamount to manslaughter. Rowan says those acts were just to scare him.

“Seriously?! You tried to kill him,” Cole replies.

“I suggest you lower your tone, Mike. I’ll no longer allow anyone to speak to me like that. Now I did what I did to Roman, that change his perceived dominance that he thinks he has. Show whats merely an illusion. For far too long I’ve been overlooked and disrespected! People like you, Roman Reigns, and Daniel Bryan think that I’m just a grunt in the background, a goon to do someone else’s bidding. I’m not a follower, I’m a leader!”

Asked about his attack on Daniel Bryan, who granted him opportunities, Rowan says that he is far more superior intellectually than Bryan thought he was and that he is no one’s puppet.

In-Ring: Ali, Shinsuke Nakamura, Sami Zayn

Following the interview, Ali is making his way to the ring for action…

Sami Zayn’s music hits, Zayn makes his way out. Mic in hand, he claims he’s in pain, demands respect and introduces YOUR Intercontinental Champion, Shinsuke Nakamura. Flowing cape around his neck, Nakamura makes his way as Zayn continues to herald him on the mic.

What was thought to be a match between Ali and Nakamura turns into a blatant 2-on-1 assault, as with all three in the ring, Zayn serves the distraction as Nakamura blasts Ali with a Kinshasa once to the back of the head, and again face first with Zayn serving him up.

In-Ring: Shane McMahon, Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens is making his way through the crowd to his paid seat among them. In Shane McMahon’s office, he’s informed that someone wishes to see him and that Owens is in the arena. A gentleman approaches Shane backstage, “Shane McMahon. You’ve been served.” Shane reads the documents in the envelope and slowly walks away.

Back from the break, Owens is lounging in his seat in the crowd as Shane McMahon’s music hits. Shane walks out along with a security detail, who he points towards Owens’ direction as he makes his way to the ring. The detail stands on the floor between the ring and barricade to prevent Owens from approaching Shane, as he is heralded by the sensuous stylings of Greg Hamilton.

Shane asks security to move aside to allow Owens into the ring, have a microphone, and voice his opinions about the documents he’d been served. “Really, Kevin? Really?,” Shane continues to ask as he also asks security to keep from the ring so that he and Owens to talk face to face.

“What you guys don’t know is what I’m holding in my hand after just looking at it, is the largest wrongful termination lawsuit in history. Where, if Kevin Owens were to win, he would win $25 million. That’s a big number, Kevin… and you’re swimming somewhere where you…”

“You want me to talk?! Maybe you should shut you stupid mouth and listen, you dumbass!” Owens interrupts. “Ever since I came out here several weeks ago when I said out loud what everyone has been thinking about you, you’ve ruined Smackdown by making it your personal playground. You’ve been targeting me,you’ve tried to make my life a living hell. You fine me $100,000 for beating the hell out of your crooked referee, Elias. Yet, you’re right I shouldn’t have put my hands on an official… but what happened last week when I was the referee for your match against Chad Gable? You couldn’t get the job done, you attack me from behind like a coward. You lay your hands on an official, which is exactly what you fined me for!

“You didn’t get fined though, did you? What happened? Oh yeah! You fired me on the grounds of being insubordinate. That’s where my case lays. I wasn’t being insubordinate at all. That fine you held over my head for weeks on end. Finally, last week, I thought of what’s best for my family, and I did everything I could do for my best interests so I did what you wanted me to. I did everything I could do to help you but you still couldn’t do it because… you tapped out! You tapped out!

“Because of that, you tried to take away everything from me. I tried to reason with you, I’ve tried to fight you, last week I tried to help you. Now all I wanted to do… is hurt you. I finally realized that the best way to do that is to hit you where it hurts you the most, and that is your wallet and your pride! This is about a lot more than money, I have a legitimate case. But you haven’t read the papers thoroughly enough but there’s a clause in there. That’s when I win… I come back here… stand in the middle of this ring… look at you in the eyes… and tell you “YOU’RE FIRED!!”

Owens makes his way out of the ring, over the barricade and through the crowd. Shane is left standing in the ring pouring over the lawsuit.

In-Ring: King Baron Corbin’s Coronation

The throne, scepter, cape and crown are in the ring… Baron Corbin’s music hits… he is clapping enthusiastically before we are reminded of his victorious King of the Ring finals match against Chad Gable on last night’s “Raw”.

“Ladies and Gentleman, your 2019 King of the Ring, Baron Corbin,” Hamilton proclaims.

Corbin takes off his sportscoat and a stagehand is in ring to place the cape over Corbin’s shoulders and pin it. He hands the crown to Corbin and he places it delicately on his gleaming bald dome. Mic in hand, the King has some words.

“I know we’re all very excited! We have to admit, Baron Corbin as King of the Ring, that’s just a breath of fresh air! Most of you wanted anybody but me as you King, but now you’re all starting to realize I’m not only the King you wanted, I’m the King you needed! I’m somebody you can believe in, I’m a ruler that exemplifies everything it takes to be King. I’m dominant, I’m strong, but I’m also generous and fair. I won the King of the Ring tournament with honor and for that, I should be shown the respect and adoration I deserve! And if I’m not, you will see very quickly that I can rule with an iron fist.

“For my first act, as your King, I want to recognize someone and that is my opponent from last night, Chad Gable!”

Gable, hands on hips, slowly makes his way to the ring.

“Chad, it’s mighty BIG of you to come out here. I’m sure you’re a LITTLE upset about last night. But I think you should try to hold your head up high though. It’s really sad though, I understand you’ve been overlooked most of your career. The real reason I wanted to be bring you out here is because you are the perfect example to all these people. You’re just like every single one of them, you show them no matter how big you dream or how hard you work… well, in the end… you just come up SHORT.”

Gable upends Corbin into the throne, grabs the scepter, and smashes it into Corbin’s stomach and onto his back! Gable is demolishing everything inside the ring… the throne, the stand for the cape, even the cape itself. Corbin pouts on the ramp as Gable hurls the remains at him. Crown in hand, Gable sets it in the middle of the ring. With Corbin pleading him not to, and the crowd telling him “YES!” to do so, Gable stomps on Corbin’s crown!
