AEW Signs Olympic Medal-Winning Boxer Anthony Ogogo

AEW has signed Olympic medal-winning boxer Anthony Ogogo, who won the bronze medal in boxing for Great Britain in the 2012 Olympics.

Ogogo, 30, last boxed in 2016 and officially retired from professional boxing in March 2019 with a record of 11-1. In his final fight, which was his only loss, he suffered a fractured eye socket, which led to his retirement.

Cody Rhodes announced that AEW had signed Ogogo at a Southside Wrestling show today in England. Later in the show, Ogogo was in the ring with MJF and they exchanged words, then MJF dared Ogogo to punch him in the face, saying that he was too scared to do it because “you’re in my world now, boy.” Ogogo then punched MJF in the face and laid him out. Ogogo then grabbed a mic and said, “As I was saying, I am Anthony Ogogo, the governor of AEW. And Mr. Maxwell Jacob Friedman, I’ll be seeing you on Wednesday night.”

Back in April, AEW did a featurette on Ogogo on The Road to Double or Nothing – Episode 12, where Cody Rhodes talked about recruiting Ogogo and Ogogo was shown training with Cody.
