NJPW announced two official matches for the card of their Wrestle Kingdom 14 event on January 4th and 5th, 2020 in Tokyo, Japan:
- January 4th (Night 1) – Jushin Thunder Liger, Tatsumi Fujinami, The Great Sasuke, & Tiger Mask vs. Naoki Sano, Shinjiro Ootani, Tatsuhito Takaiwa, & Ryusuke Taguchi
- January 4th (Night 1) – IWGP Heavyweight Championship – Kota Ibushi vs. Kazuchika Okada (c)
In regards to Liger’s match on Night 1 of Wrestle Kingdom 14, it was also announced that El Samurai will be in the corner of Team Liger, Kuniaki Kobayashi will be in the corner of Team Sano, and Norio Honaga will be the special guest referee for the match.
NJPW also announced that Jushin Thunder Liger will be competing in a second retirement match on Night 2 of Wrestle Kingdom 14 with his official opponent to be announced at a later date.
An official retirement ceremony for Liger will be held at NJPW’s New Year Dash 2020 event on January 6th in Tokyo, Japan.
