WWE reportedly originally had another idea for the finish of the Seth Rollins vs. Bray Wyatt match at Hell in a Cell before they ended up going with the debacle that we saw.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the original idea also called for a match stoppage, but it would have been after Wyatt took a (gimmicked) bump off of the top of the cage. Wyatt would be unable to continue and the match would have been stopped. Then after the match was over, Wyatt would have sat up like The Undertaker and given Seth Rollins a Mandible Claw.
It feels like this maybe would have been a better finish, though still not good, and probably would have also gotten a really bad reception from the crowd.
The finish of the match that we saw was a Vince McMahon idea, Dave Meltzer reported in the Observer.
McMahon didn’t want to beat Wyatt this early, but also wanted to go into the draft with Seth Rollins, Brock Lesnar, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair as the four cornerstone champions.
