Tony Khan on PPV Schedule, His Favorite Episode, Plans for Canada/UK/NYC, More

Tony Khan did a press conference / media scrum after the Full Gear PPV last night. Here are a few highlights:

– Joey Janela is OK and will be at Dynamite on Wednesday.

– We might see judges in the future for big title matches.

– Despite appearing on a Dynamite episode in an angle with Jon Moxley a couple of weeks ago, Khan does not want to be an on-air character.

– He had a lot of involvement in laying out the Britt Baker vs. Bea Priestley feud and originally wanted the match to be on the main PPV card, but because of “some timing circumstances, in terms of somebody having a personal situation that was completely understandable, we ended up moving another match that was going to be on The Buy-In originally, we switched it.”

– They’ll be announcing more women that have been signed soon.

– AEW wants to continue to do great PPVs quarterly. Double or Nothing, All Out and Full Gear will be “big quarterly brands.” They will announce the PPV for next quarter soon. Double or Nothing 2 will happen on Memorial Day weekend (May 23 2020) in Las Vegas. Next year’s All Out will be in Chicago.

– Khan said that the Dynamite episode in Pittsburgh on October 23 was “the best episode of wrestling television I’ve ever seen.”

– Khan said that AEW has never once changed anything on the show based on something that NXT is doing, because they’re focusing on doing the best two hour show they can each week.

– There were no serious injuries on the PPV.

– Khan would like to bring AEW to Canada and the UK, specifically London in 2020.

– Bringing in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express was the Young Bucks’ idea because the Bucks idolize them.

– He doesn’t expect to see unsanctioned matches too often.

– The Chris Jericho parody video from last week was Jericho’s idea.

– They’ve had talks with Madison Square Garden and would love to run a show in New York. Khan said that MSG is a great building, but there are a lot of great buildings in NYC.
