Notable wrestling podcaster and influencer Conrad Thompson recently released an article for Yahoo Sports’ Uncrowned. In the article, Thompson claimed that former WWE, WCW, and TNA writer Vince Russo had a series of conversations with WWE President Nick Khan this past summer about a possible return to WWE. Thompson stated that the idea of Russo’s potential return to WWE “died on the vine” and did not lead to him being brought back to the company.
Fightful Select reported that their sources within WWE confirmed that they had heard Khan having talks with Russo but they are not sure how serious those talks were.
Those spoken to familiar with the situation reportedly stated that Russo had either visited WWE’s headquarters at one point or was under consideration for a visit there. Those spoken to reportedly also stated that news of this did not make it to the rest of WWE’s staff.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that it was Russo who had initiated contact with Khan but there was no movement toward officially hiring Russo back to the company at any point this year.
