WWE Planning to Hold Less NXT House Shows in 2020

WWE reportedly is considering plans to hold less house shows for their NXT brand next year, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s issue that WWE officials have held recent talks regarding the declining attendance of NXT house shows during this past year, especially in NXT’s Florida tour loop. Meltzer reported that WWE is considering the idea of dropping Thursdays from NXT’s Florida touring schedule due to that day generally drawing the weakest attendance and concerns over local burnout.

WWE officials also currently believe the declining attendance is partially due to the NXT fanbase fracturing between old school fans, who are more rowdy and vocal towards heels, and new school fans, who are more respectful and vocal towards match quality. This has led to resentment between the two groups, making the overall experience worse for everyone.
