Opinion: Match & Show Ratings for December 1 to December 7

Welcome to TPWW’s Emperor Smeat’s Match and Show Ratings for the week of December 1 to December 7.

Some new changes were made starting with last week’s set of shows. First, show notes were added to help give some brief insight for ratings. Second, the new average for matches will be 2.5 instead of 3.0 going forward due to 3.0 was a bit too high as a starting point and causing some score inflation to happen.

Match and show star ratings (out of 5):
WWE
WWE RAW (Dec. 2)
* Kevin Owens vs. Bobby Lashley – 2
* Drew McIntyre vs. Akira Tozawa – 2
* Tony Nese vs. Aleister Black – 1.5
* Andrade vs. Eric Young – 2.5
* No Way Jose vs. Erick Rowan – 1
* 2-on-1 Handicap match – Charlotte Flair vs. Asuka & Kairi Sane – 3
* Mark Sterling & Mitchell Lyons vs. The Viking Raiders – 1
* Rey Mysterio, Humberto Carrillo, & Ricochet vs. The O.C. – 3.5
Overall – 2
Best – Six-man tag team match. Worst – Lana’s promos and terrible acting skills.
Show Notes – First hour was mostly bad. Handicap match was decent but also very disappointing in terms of its booking. Six-man tag team match was very good but not enough to lift an overall dull episode.

NXT (Dec. 4)
* Killian Dain vs. Pete Dunne – 3.5
* Xia Li vs. Shayna Baszler – 2.5
* Adrian Alanis & Leon Ruff vs. The Forgotten Sons – 1
* Kassius Ohno vs. Matt Riddle – 3
* KUSHIDA vs. Cameron Grimes – 2.5
* The Undisputed Era vs. Keith Lee, Dominik Dijakovic, & Tommaso Ciampa – 3.5
Overall – 3.5
Best – Six-Man tag team match. Worst – Adrian Alanis & Leon Ruff vs. The Forgotten Sons tag team match.
Show Notes – The KUSHIDA video package segment was great. Jaxson Ryker’s brutal looking chokeslam was the only thing about the Forgotten Sons tag match. Keith Lee is amazing and the main event six-man tag team match was great. Overall, the second hour was the better of the two hours and a very enjoyable show.

NXT UK (Dec. 5)
Overall – 3
Best – Jordan Devlin vs. A-Kid match. Worst – NXT UK’s fascination with trying to make Gallius and Joe Coffey into major stars.
Show Notes – Main event segment felt flat although more due to not being that interested in Gallus nor their current feud with Imperium.

WWE Friday Night SmackDown (Dec. 6)
* Mandy Rose vs. Alexa Bliss – 1.5
* #1 Contender for WWE SamckDown Tag Team Championship Fatal Four-Way Elimination match – Mustafa Ali & Shorty G vs. Lucha House Party vs. The Revival vs. Heavy Machinery – 3
* Lacey Evans vs. Haley Jones – 1
* Roman Reigns vs. Dolph Ziggler – 2.5
Overall – 2.5
Best – Tag Team Elimination match. Worst – The terrible ending to the show.
Show Notes – Firefly Fun House segment was pretty good. The Elimination tag match was also pretty good. Reigns vs. Ziggler match was decent but SmackDown itself was mostly dull to average at best.

205 Live (Dec. 6)
Overall – 2
Best – Danny Burch vs. Lio Rush match. Worst – Tony Nese vs. Trent Newman match.
Show Notes – Danny Burch vs. Lio Rush match was good but this week’s 205 Live show was somewhat boring.

AEW
AEW Dark (Dec. 3)
* Brandon Cutler vs. Jimmy Havoc – 2.5
* Shawn Spears vs. Sonny Kiss – 2
* Jurassic Express vs. Santana & Ortiz – 3
Overall – 2.5
Best – Jurassic Express vs. Santana & Ortiz match. Worst – Shawn Spears vs. Sonny Kiss match.
Show Notes – Nyla Rose’s commentary was pretty good throughout the show. The tag team match was good overall although the post-match brawl dragged on a bit too long.

AEW Dynamite (Dec. 4)
* The Young Bucks & Dustin Rhodes vs. Sammy Guevara, Santana, & Ortiz – 3.5
* Trent vs. Rey Fenix – 3
* Nyla Rose vs. “The Librarian” Leva Bates – 1.5
* Kris Statlander vs. Hikaru Shida – 3
* Christopher Daniels vs. Pentagon Jr – 3
* Joey Janela vs. Jon Moxley – 3.5
Overall – 3.5
Best – AEW putting more real effort into the Women’s division. Worst – The terrible audio issues that plagued much of the show.
Show Notes – Very rough start to the show due to serious audio issues. Dark Order’s video segment was great. Everything involving the return of Jericho’s List segment was hilarious. Janela vs. Moxley match was very good. Aside of the audio issues, tonight’s episode was better overall than last week’s show.
