AEW Revolution Notes: New Champion Crowned, War Games Announcement, Colt Cabana

Jon Moxley Becomes New AEW World Champion

At Saturday’s AEW Revolution event in Chicago, Illinois, all three AEW championships were defended with one changing hands.

Jon Moxley defeated Chris Jericho to become the new AEW World Champion and becoming the second to do so in company history. Prior to his defeat, Jericho had held the AEW World Championship for 183 days.

AEW Announces “Blood & Guts” Special and War Games Style Match for March 25th

During the event, AEW announced that their next AEW Dynamite themed episode will be taking place on March 25th in Newark, New Jersey.

This episode is titled “AEW Blood & Guts” and will feature a War Games style cage match.

The episode’s subtitle “Blood & Guts” likely is a reference to the term Vince McMahon used to describe AEW’s content at a WWE investor’s meeting held in July of last year.

Colt Cabana Signs Contract with AEW

AEW owner Tony Kahn announced at Revolution’s post-show media scrum that Colt Cabana has recently signed an official contract with the company. Kahn stated that Cabana’s deal is not exclusive and allows him the ability to work as an in-ring talent, coach, and commentator for the company.

“Colt is working here. He does a variety of things. He already started as an announcer and now he’s gonna be working as a wrestler. I could see Colt wrestling for us on a regular basis. He can chip in as a commentator and also as a coach. He’s a valuable mind. He’s signed here. He can work, at my discretion, Colt can work other places.”
