Coronavirus Updates: NJPW Cancels Sakura Genesis, Impact Cancels Several Events, No ROH Events Until June

NJPW Cancels Sakura Genesis 2020 and Road to Dontaku 2020 Events

New Japan Pro Wrestling recently announced that they have cancelled both their Sakura Genesis 2020 event, which had been scheduled to take place on March 31st in Tokyo, and the first event of their Road to Dontaku 2020 tour, which had been scheduled to take place on April 11th in Sagamihara, Japan.

Acting under the latest recommendations laid out by the Japanese Ministry of Health, New Japan Pro-Wrestling has arrived at the decision to cancel Sakura Genesis, which was scheduled to take place Tuesday March 31 in Ryogoku Sumo Hall, and the Road to Dontaku event that was scheduled to take place in Sagamihara on Saturday April 11.

We deeply apologise to fans who were looking forward to these events. Ultimately, the health and safety of our fans, wrestlers and staff, as well as society at large is our utmost concern, and we will make announcements about events scheduled after April 11 upon careful monitoring of this developing situation.

We will soon announce refund procedures for the affected events. Programs like the NJPW Together Project will continue to see wrestlers and staff come together to bring the best possible content to fans while we eagerly await the opportunity to entertain live crowds once more.

Impact Wrestling Cancels Several Events Including Rebellion PPV

Impact Wrestling announced that they have cancelled more events for the month of April due to the on-going coronavirus outbreak.

The events cancelled are Against All Odds 2020 on April 17th in Toronto, Canada, Rebellion 2020 on April 19th in New York City, New York, and the April 24th and April 25th Impact! television tapings in Columbus, Ohio.

Official statement:

As a result of the Coronavirus outbreak, IMPACT Wrestling will not be hosting “Against All Odds” on April 17th in Toronto, the April 19th “Rebellion” pay-per-view event at New York City’s Terminal 5 and the April 24th & 25th TV tapings in Columbus, Ohio. We are monitoring the situation closely and are looking at alternative ways that we can produce the events. All tickets will be fully refunded from point of purchase.

The safety of our fans, talent and staff is of utmost importance and we will continue to adjust plans as necessary while still delivering as much IMPACT Wrestling as possible.


Ring of Honor Cancels All Upcoming Events Until June

Ring of Honor issued an official update regarding the status of their upcoming events for the months of April and May.

The company announced that they have cancelled all of their events until May 31st due to the recent recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization for the coronavirus outbreak.

Pursuant to the latest updates regarding Covid-19, known as the Coronavirus, and in strong consideration of the government’s mandate limiting large gatherings for the next 8 weeks, we are CANCELLING all ROH LIVE events through May 31st, 2020. We appreciate your understanding through these difficult times as we come together as a planet to do our part in slowing and helping stop the spread of this virus. We encourage all fans to avoid large crowds, practice social distancing, and adhere to the continuously updated guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). Tickets purchased for all events will be refunded at the earliest possibility. In most cases, refunds should appear within 3-7 business days, but please allow for potential delays due to volume at our ticketing partners and possible delays in processing at various banks. As the pandemic progresses, ROH will continue to provide timely updates related to live touring plans.
