Various: Vince McMahon’s Initial WrestleMania 36 Backup Plan, NJPW Wrestle Dynasty Update

Vince McMahon’s Initial Backup Pans for WrestleMania 36

Prior to WWE’s announcement of WrestleMania 36 taking place at their Performance Center, Vince McMahon reportedly wanted to still hold the event at the Raymond James Stadium in some capacity, according to Sports Illustrated.

Justin Barrasso reported that Vince McMahon originally did not want WrestleMania 36 to be moved and if necessary, he wanted to hold the event with no fans in attendance at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. Barrasso reported that McMahon’s decision to move the event to the Performance Center was due to pressure from Florida state government officials who felt it would have been a very bad look for the state to allow the event to go forward at the stadium despite the on-going coronavirus outbreak.

Barrasso also reported that aesthetic issues with running a major WWE event in a large empty stadium was another reason behind McMahon eventually changing his mind in favor of the Performance Center instead.
