NJPW Announces Live English Commentary for Stadium Event

New Japan Pro Wrestling announced that live English commentary will be making its return to New Japan World at their Summer Struggle in Jingu event on August 29th.

Kevin Kelly and Chris Charlton were announced to be the English commentary team for this upcoming event.

August 29 will see NJPW return to Jingu Stadium for the first time in 21 years. With hot action in the open air setting of Jingu amped up for five title matches on the card, it seems only right to keep our great fans around the world up to date with what’s happening, as it’s happening!

We’re excited to have live English commentary for Summer Struggle on NJPW World August 29. Kevin Kelly and Chris Charlton will be on the call for this huge event! Wherever you are on August 29, be there with NJPW World!

This will be the first time since NJPW resumed events that English commentary will be an option for live events on New Japan World. Prior events since NJPW’s return had English commentary only available afterwards as a post-production update to shows.


Full Card for Friday’s NJPW Strong Episode

NJPW recently announced the full card for this Friday’s episode of NJPW Strong.

The card features three matches, including the Finals of the New Japan Cup USA 2020 tournament, and the official series debuts of Jay White, Flip Gordon, and Adrian Quest.

Full card:

  • Adrian Quest & Rocky Romero vs. The DKC & Danny Limelight
  • Chase Owens & Jay White vs. Brody King & Flip Gordon
  • New Japan Cup USA 2020 Tournament Finals – David Finlay vs. KENTA

Match Stipulations for KOPW Tournament Matches Revealed

NJPW recently revealed the match stipulations for the first round matches of their upcoming King of Pro Wrestling Championship tournament.

Each competitor involved in the tournament issued a match stipulation for their first round matchup, which will be determined by the results of fan voting.

In regards to the SHO vs. SANADA match, both competitors issued similar stipulations so NJPW declared the match to be an official submission match. SHO’s stipulation was that the match could only end by a submission while SANADA’s stipulation was a no pinfalls, give up only match.

  • Kazuchika Okada (1 vs. 3 Handicap Match) vs. Yujiro Takahashi (Lumberjack Match with Leather Belts)
  • SHO vs. SANADA (Submissions Match)
  • Toru Yano (Two Count Pinfalls) vs. BUSHI (Five Count Ringouts)
  • Satoshi Kojima (Finishers Only) vs. El Desperado (No Finishers Allowed)

The first round of the King of Pro Wrestling Championship tournament will take place at NJPW’s Summer Struggle event on August 26th in Tokyo, Japan.
