IWGP U.S. Title Status, Tom Lawlor Update, Tanga Loa Contract, KENTA on WWE Career

NJPW officials currently do not have a date set in mind for Jon Moxley to defend his IWGP United States Championship against KENTA, who won this year’s New Japan Cup USA tournament, according to the Wrestling Observer. Dave Meltzer reported that the main issue is the current travel restrictions caused by the on-going coronavirus pandemic in the country.

Tom Lawlor reportedly will be making additional appearances for NJPW within the near future, according to PWInsider.

Fightful held a recent interview with Tanga Loa and one of the topics discussed included Loa revealing that his contract with NJPW expires soon.

“Yeah, it’s going to be up soon. What’s nice is that the company’s been real good about staying in contact with us and letting us know how things will work and we’ll talk again once this pandemic is done. Which it won’t. What’s nice is Japan, I think you’ve seen it, they’ve been able to fill their arenas up to 50% capacity. They have people. Which is nice to see people in the arenas again in Japan. But, until we get back to Japan, keep fighting. Make sure you’re doing your best to stay healthy to contribute to the company.”

Sports Illustrated held a recent interview with KENTA and one of the topics discussed included KENTA’s thoughts on his career in WWE.

“I’ve felt in my heart that the five years I spent in WWE were the most frustrating days of my life. I’ve talked about this, but I’ll always remember the humiliation in America. Being here reminds me of that regret. And when you’re not good, you tell yourself that. That is what inspires me.”
