After losing the Loser Leaves WWE match to Mandy Rose last night at SummerSlam, Sonya Deville posted this on Twitter:
…. goodbye
— Daddy Deville (@SonyaDevilleWWE) August 24, 2020
WWE also posted this backstage video after the match, where the interviewer calls her Sonya and she just says, “Do not call me that ever again.”
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the reason why the hair vs. hair stipulation was dropped was that Deville’s lawyer didn’t think a shaved head would look good for her future court appearances, where she will need to testify against the man accused of breaking into her home to take her hostage.
Meltzer speculated that she likely will return to WWE at some point and the time off may either be to deal with the aftermath of the break-in incident or because she has other possible acting projects in the works.
