More on AEW vs. NXT Week 51 Viewership

The September 23rd episodes of AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT saw AEW slightly decline in viewership while NXT slightly rose in viewership. AEW also managed to maintain their advantage in terms of overall viewership and key demographic rankings.

AEW drew 835,000 viewers and a #9 ranking in the 18-49 demographic while NXT drew 696,000 and a #38 ranking in the 18-49 demographic.

The results of the quarter-hour segment breakdowns were not revealed in this week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported that stiff sports competition from both the NBA and NHL Playoffs hurt both shows in regards to male viewership with AEW suffering the bigger declines of the two. Specifically, AEW was hurt the most with Males under 35 viewership by Game 4 of the Boston vs. Miami NBA playoffs series, which drew 4,484,000 viewers and a 1.76 key demographic rating on ESPN. Despite the declines with male viewership, Meltzer reported that female viewership for both shows were higher compared to last week.

Meltzer reported that in terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 410,000 viewers while NXT had 230,000 viewers. In terms of breakdowns, AEW reportedly had 76,000 viewers for Males 18-34 group, 64,000 viewers for Females 18-34 group, 184,000 viewers for Males 35-49 group, and 86,000 viewers for Females 35-49 group. NXT reportedly had 39,000 viewers for Males 18-34 group, 30,000 for Females 18-34 group, 98,000 viewers for Males 35-49 group, and 63,000 for Females 35-49 group.

While quarter-hour viewership for both shows were not revealed in this week’s Newsletter issue, Meltzer reported in Friday’s Daily Update on F4WOnline.com that NXT won the first quarter hour and had 1,205,000 viewers at the start their show compared to 791,000 viewers for AEW. Meltzer reported the reason for the big gap was due to NXT’s lead-in program on USA Network was much stronger than AEW’s lead-in program on TNT.


United Kingdom Viewership for AEW & NXT September Shows

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW drew 158,000 viewers for their September 11th episode on ITV 4 in the United Kingdom.

NXT reportedly drew 21,700 viewers for their live September 8th episode on BT Sport in the United Kingdom.
