AAA Triplemania XXVIII Update & More on Marvel Deal

As noted before, Lucha Libre AAA held a press conference earlier this week discussing details regarding their upcoming Triplemania XXVIII event.

While no official date was announced for the event, Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AAA officials recently informed their talent of a potential December 5th date for the event.

Meltzer reported that the current feeling within the company is that at least 6,500 ticket sales will need to be sold for it to make financially sense to hold the event this year. At the moment, fans are currently not allowed to attend wrestling events in Mexico City, Mexico due to current local government rules for the coronavirus pandemic.

In regards to the company’s deal with Marvel, Meltzer reported that this deal was made several months ago and the new Marvel themed masked wrestlers were originally planned to debut during this past summer prior to it being delayed due to coronavirus-related reasons. Meltzer also reported that the company will be debuting more Marvel themed masked wrestlers within the near future. Representatives from Marvel reportedly will be in attendance at AAA’s TripleMania event.

Meltzer also reported that Marvel currently has plans to potentially run a Marvel Wrestling League should the debut of their new Marvel themed wrestlers be successful.

In regards to AAA’s Hall of Fame, La Parka reportedly will be this year’s inductee member.
