Matt Hardy and Private Party appeared on tonight’s episode of Impact on AXS TV, and Private Party are now the #1 contenders for the Impact Tag Team titles.
The current tag champs, the Good Brothers were cutting a promo in the ring when they were interrupted by Chris Sabin and his new partner James Storm, who wanted a title shot. Private Party and Matt Hardy then interrupted them, with Matt doing all the talking and saying that Private Party wants a title shot. Hardy played his new cocky heel manager character and said that he and Jeff Hardy single-handedly saved Impact from going bankrupt in 2016, and the Hardys never lost the Impact tag titles, but they were stripped away from them in some “stupid teleportation angle.” The Good Brothers then agreed that Private Party should wrestle Sabin and Storm later that night, and the winners would get a title shot.
Private Party defeated Sabin and Storm in the main event when Matt Hardy got up on the apron to distract the referee and Jerry Lynn (who was sitting at ringside with Tony Khan) grabbed Sabin’s leg as he went up to the top rope, leading to Private Party hitting him with Gin and Juice.
So Private Party will now get a future Impact Tag Team title shot against the Good Brothers on a date yet to be announced.
