WWE Reportedly Was Disappointed Over Christian Joining AEW

This past Sunday’s AEW Revolution 2021 event featured the official debut of Christian Cage, formerly known as Christian in WWE, who was the hyped mystery new big “Hall of Fame worthy” signing for the company.

Fightful Select reported that the reaction within WWE over Cage’s signing with AEW was one of disappointment. It was reported that several sources spoken to stated that they were not sure Cage would go to AEW but guessed that being a likely possibility due to him not appearing on any WWE programming following this year’s Royal Rumble event. It was also reported that several high level sources stated that Cage not being referenced on WWE television “wasn’t a coincidence” and felt “let down” that Cage left. Those same high level sources also stated that the company should have done a better job to lock him into a new deal.

One WWE talent spoken to reportedly stated that if the move to AEW makes Cage happy, then they are happy for him and spoke highly of him.

In regards to AEW talent, it was reported that several had known beforehand that Cage was going to be the new mystery big signing for the company.
