WWE: Original Plans for Mia Yim’s SmackDown Debut, SummerSlam 2021 Update, New Trademarks

WWE’s Plans for Mia Yim’s SmackDown Brand Debut

This past Friday’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown was held as a special “Throwback Edition” episode featuring clips and nods to the series and WWE’s past. WWE officials originally had planned for a new Aleister Black vignette to air on the show but it was pulled due to show timing issues.

Besides Black’s vignette, Fightful Select reported that Mia Yim’s official debut for the brand was also originally planned and pulled from last week’s show. It was reported that the reason was due to time being cut on the show to add in the Throwback elements and the Roman Reigns program being given additional time.

Yim reportedly was planned to start a feud with Carmella for her SmackDown debut.

Rumored Locations for WWE’s SummerSlam 2021 Event

As noted before, WWE is currently planning to hold this year’s SummerSlam event on August 22nd.

Dave Meltzer reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE officials are currently considering the idea of holding this year’s event at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York.

Fightful Select reported that while their sources within the company stated that they haven’t heard of any talks of Madison Square Garden being considered, they did state that Las Vega was “gaining a lot of steam” as the potential location for the event. It was also reported that WWE is also considering an earlier date of August 1st for the event as well.
