More on WWE NXT Viewership for June 15

The June 15th episode of WWE NXT saw NXT gain a small increase in overall viewership but suffered a slight decline in key demographic ratings.

NXT drew 695,000 viewers and a 0.19 key demographic rating on USA Network. NXT’s key demographic ranking for that week’s show reportedly was 19th place.

This week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter provided more details for that week’s NXT show.

Dave Meltzer reported that the reason for NXT’s key demographic ratings decline that week was due to a huge drop suffered in their younger female viewership. Meltzer reported that when factoring in same day DVR viewership up until 3AM EST, the split was 605,000 live viewers and 90,000 DVR viewers. In regards to head-to-head competition, the NBA Playoffs Game 5 of Milwaukee Bucks vs. Brooklyn Nets drew 4,600,000 viewers on ESPN and the NHL Playoffs Game 2 of New York Islanders vs. Tampa Bay Lightning drew 1,300,000 viewers on NBCSN.

In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 240,000 viewers. NXT’s biggest increase was with their Males 18-34 group at 46.2% higher than the prior week’s show. NXT’s biggest decline was their Females 18-34 group at 65.8% lower than the prior week’s show.

In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was down 6.8% in overall viewership and down 4% in key demographic viewership.

WWE NXT started off with around 710,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the Ted DiBiase, LA Knight, & Cameron Grimes promo segment and the Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez interview segment which gained 112,000 viewers. NXT’s biggest decline of the night was the bulk of the Tornado Tag Team match of Grizzled Young Veterans vs. Timothy Thatcher & Tommaso Ciampa which lost 59,000 viewers. NXT’s overrun gained an additional 15,000 viewers to end the night.


More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for June 18

The June 18th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW gain a sizable increase in overall viewership. That week’s show was notable for being the fourth and final week in a row that Dynamite aired on a Friday due to TNT’s current NBA Playoffs commitments.

AEW drew 552,000 viewers and a 0.20 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that week’s show reportedly was 15th place.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reasons for AEW’s viewership increase that week was due to a huge rebound in their older female viewership and the show started off at a much higher overall viewership than what they had been averaging for their shows on Fridays in June. Meltzer reported that when factoring same day DVR viewership up until 3AM EST, the split was 469,000 live viewers and 83,000 DVR viewers. In regards to head-to-head competition, the NBA Playoffs Game 6 of Utah Jazz vs. Los Angeles Clippers drew 4,657,000 viewers on ESPN and the NHL Playoffs Game 3 of Vegas Golden Knights vs. Montreal Canadiens drew 983,000 viewers on NBCSN.

Meltzer reported that around 40.9% of those who watched at least one second of WWE’s Friday Night SmackDown show that week also watched AEW’s show. This was the largest crossover of viewers out of the four weeks both WWE’s SmackDown and AEW’s Dynamite shows aired on the same night.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 262,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest increase was with their Females 35-49 group at 117.2% higher than the prior week’s show. AEW’s biggest decline was with their Females 18-34 group at 16.7% lower than the prior week’s show.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 23.5% in overall viewership and down 28% in key demographic viewership.

AEW Dynamite started off with around 731,000 viewers and none of AEW’s quarters gained viewers for the night. AEW’s biggest decline of the night was the ending to the Jake Hager vs. Wardlow MMA Rules Cage match and post-match Pinnacle & Inner Circle brawl, the Penta El Zero Miedo, Eddie Kingston, & Frankie Kazarian promo segment, and the Team Taz promo segment which lost 104,000 viewers.
