Brock Lesnar Free Agency Update & Rumors of AEW Signing Debunked

As noted before, Brock Lesnar’s contract with WWE expired last year, first his talent contract in April of 2020 and afterwards his merchandise contract in August of 2020.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the recent rumors and reports of Lesnar recently signing a contract with AEW are not true. Meltzer reported that AEW CEO Tony Khan has yet to even have a business discussion with Lesnar and sources close to Lesnar confirmed that any secret deal between both sides is “100 percent inaccurate”.

Meltzer also reported that the recent rumors and reports of Lesnar recently signing with a non-WWE company, either in wrestling or in MMA, are also not true.

In regards to WWE, Meltzer reported that Lesnar has not held any recent talks with WWE officials over a possible return to the company.

Cain Velasquez on His Return to Wrestling Plans

A recent episode of the In This Corner with Cyrus Fees podcast had Cain Velasquez as the guest. Some of the topics discussed included his thoughts on his brief time in WWE and his future wrestling career plans.

On the topic of his brief time in WWE, Velasquez stated:

“The scenario I was in, that moment, not having any experience in that world. When COVID hit, I couldn’t go anymore. You need to develop in this sport. If you want a certain product out of me that I can produce, you have to give me time. I just needed time and needed to be in there and practicing to make it second nature to where I wasn’t thinking when I’m out there. I wasn’t there yet and I was thinking so much and you could tell I was thinking. It’s just developing. The lucha is a different style and it translates for me a lot better and smoother.”

On the topic of his future plans in wrestling, Velasquez stated:

“I’m doing a show in December for AAA. I love AAA and I’m going to keep doing that right now. I love WWE as well, but I have to first develop myself in order for me to go out there. I’m going to keep doing stuff and have fun with it.”
